From the North East of England through our passion to deliver exceptional bespoke gym equipment, Saxon Fitness was born.

A metalworker turned personal trainer

It’s April 2020. The world is locked down. Our founder Dean, a metalworker turned Personal Trainer, is despondent. His job and access to his beloved gym is lost overnight. Only too aware of the importance of exercise through these anxious, uncertain months, he begins to think. He has access to a workshop, has the metalworking skills he was taught as a teenager, and has a deep knowledge of training. He begins designing and welding, and is soon lifting weights on a primitive power cage in his home garage.

Unrivalled quality

Long training sessions follow, and Dean begins sharing exercise tips with clients and friends over social media. Many ask about the power cage. Where is it from? Is it customisable? How do they get one? As he begins to build custom equipment to order, clarity forms around an idea. SAXON is born.

Dean had done the rounds at the local gyms. He knew the limitations of the typical strength equipment. As a professional PT he knew what customers wanted, and his blood-deep understanding of metalwork meant he knew how to do things better.

SAXON’s gym equipment would be refined yet unpretentious, and of industry-leading quality. It would be fully customisable, absolutely solid, and always proudly built in the UK to outlast its owner.

Months of development, testing and prototyping followed. The result is a new breed of gym equipment from North-East England’s industrial heartland

A metalworking heritage

Metalworking is in our blood. Our founder Dean is son of a long lineage of Tyneside shipbuilders, carrying on a family tradition by training as a fabricator in his teenage years.

We are immensely proud of our industrial heritage and are committed to championing metalworking skills in the UK.

Later qualifying as a Personal Trainer, Dean has a unique understanding of how metal and muscle combine.
